Ikea is awesome. But it’s not just awesome because of the inexpensive homegoods. The café, where you can get mounds of Swedish meatballs, complete with plenty of lingonberry sauce for just a couple bucks, now that’s where it’s at. It’s a favorite comfort food of mine, and lucky for me and my family, the folks at Ikea make it very easy to recreate the dish by selling sauce packets to make the exact same sauce that they make in the restaurant for just a couple bucks in the store. Grab a bag of frozen meatballs (my grocer even has frozen Swedish meatballs…SCORE), and you’re set!
But what really makes the dish for me is the Lingonberry sauce. Felix Brand makes the best, though I haven’t tried Ikea’s storebrand due to insane loyalty to this stuff. The way the flavor of the gravy melds with the lingonberries, it’s just indescribably perfect. It’s happy food, pure and simple.
All my cakes come from boxes. My spaghetti sauce isn't from scratch, and I think making my own pasta and bread (unless it comes from a mix…) is rarely worth the effort. I believe individually frozen chicken breasts and ready-made pie crusts are among the best inventions ever. Through these menus, recipes, tips and recommendations, I hope to show that the options for creative cooking are limitless, even when time and money are not.

I love the Ikea meatballs and gravy! I usually buy a huge bag of their meatballs and a couple of packets of sauce and throw it all in my crockpot for parties. Their lingonberry sauce is great too!
PS love your blog!
