CONFESSION: I can’t make an omelet to save my life. Oh, I try. Today I even tried to do the cool flip thing with the pan like all the chefs on TV do, but I learned that’s one move that you have to totally commit to. I’m working my way up to it, though.
So instead today, as with most days, I ended up with a yummy breakfast scramble featuring some of the pre-cooked pork sausage we bought in bulk from the Italian deli and FoodSaver’d, some vidalia onion, green pepper and cheddar cheese. I whipped the eggs with some sour cream to make them a bit creamier. I served it all up with a sliced orange tomato and wheat toast spread with Orange-Pineapple-Cherry Marmalade purchased by my grandma-in-law as a souvenir. A delicious way to start the day!
All my cakes come from boxes. My spaghetti sauce isn't from scratch, and I think making my own pasta and bread (unless it comes from a mix…) is rarely worth the effort. I believe individually frozen chicken breasts and ready-made pie crusts are among the best inventions ever. Through these menus, recipes, tips and recommendations, I hope to show that the options for creative cooking are limitless, even when time and money are not.
